Equipping NHS Treatment Centres

NHS Treatment Centres were launched as part of a government programme designed to reduce long hospital waiting lists and give patients a choice as to when and where to have their treatments.

They were designed to specialise in surgery and diagnostic test which require only a short stay in hospital.

One of the first independent providers of such centres was Care UK PLC. It now has a network of ten centres, the most recently opened being in Southampton - a brand new, state-of-the-art facility within the Royal South Hants Hospital.

With specialisms including ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, oral surgery and orthopaedics - the centre is equipped with 33 Anetic Aid's manual QA4 Day Surgery Systems. Explained, Head of Procurement - Healthcare, Mark BaylissThe QA4 fits perfectly with the concept of a day treatment centre: the patient is admitted, gets changed and on to the trolley, - and then stays with it throughout the procedure right through into recovery and onto day ward; importantly used in this patient handling is kept to the minimum. 'Of course there are other surgery trolley systems - but the QA4 was the most cost effective solution - and our experience from our clinical staff also shows it is the most user-friendly.'

Anetic Aid also supplied tourniquet systems and instrument trolleys to the Southampton NHS Treatment Centre - and has also supplied a variety of equipment to other Care UK facilities
